Early Life

Singer-songwriter Trey Songz was born Tremaine Aldon Neverson on November 28, 1984, in Petersburg, Virginia, a small town just south of Richmond. When Songz was 7 years old, his mother, April Tucker, married a member of the U.S. Army. The young Songz spent the next seven years traveling around the country, as his stepfather was stationed to different military bases. The family returned to Petersburg when Songz was 14 years old, and he began his freshman year at Petersburg High School soon after. "When I came back, that's when I really found out who I was," the singer once recalled. "Those were the years I basically found Trey Songz. I didn't really get into singing until I came back."

Although Songz's family did not have extra money to spend on music lessons, the radio was constantly playing at home and in the car. His mother once recalled, "He's familiar with the Temptations, Donny Hathaway, Otis Redding, Prince, Michael Jackson, because that's what we were listening to growing up." In his youth, Songz loved singing his favorite songs in the shower, but never imagined he could turn singing into a career.

At his friends' insistence, Songz signed up to sing at the Appomattox Regional Governor's School Talent Show in Petersburg in 1998. His mother showed her support by attending the event, bringing along a 20-person cheering section. A year later, at the age of 15, Songz met New Jersey-based music producer Troy Taylor. In July 2012, Foster's 11-year-old son from a previous relationship (Usher's stepson), Kyle Glover, suffered a severe brain injury in a water accident. According to several media reports, Glover had been riding on an inflatable tube on Lake Lanier in Atlanta, Georgia, when a jet ski struck him in the head and knocked him unconscious. After being rushed to a local hospital, Glover was declared brain dead by doctors.

Tragedy struck Usher's family again the following August. His son Usher Raymond V got caught in a pool drain at the singer's Atlanta home. Usher's aunt was watching the child when the incident happened and had tried to free the boy. The child was taken to a nearby hospital and survived his injuries.

After this accident, Usher's ex-wife Tameka Foster launched a legal battle to regain custody of the couple's two children. She claims that the singer was "not capable of providing daily caregiving and supervision for the minor children" in her legal filing, according to CNN. But the judge in the case disagreed with Foster and allowed Usher to retain custody of the children.

In September 2015 Usher married his longtime girlfriend and manager Grace Miguel, who is a top executive at Def Jam Records.

After issuing his "Hard Work" PSA, Kendrick Lamar goes on a drunken rant in the video for “God Is Gangsta.”

The short film, comprised of “u” and “For Sale?” off his Grammy-nominated album To Pimp a Butterfly, opens with the Compton rapper alone in a room drinking from a liquor bottle while rapping along to “u” before being baptized in a pool of water. He finds himself surrounded by half-naked women, who can’t keep their hands off him, while his interlude “For Sale?” plays. In between the powerful imagery, subliminal messages flash on screen: “I followed your rules for way too long” and “You played the game. I pimped it.”

Kendrick will head to the Grammys in February, where he is nominated for 11 awards. While he wants to win them all, he didn’t record the album for accolades. “This album did what I wanted it to do,” he told The New York Times. “That’s not necessarily to sell tons of records—though it didn’t do bad at that either—but to actually have an impact on the people and on the culture of music.”

Im really upset that this isnt but that science project bruce jenner is #Society.”

Not okay, Chris! When the rapper was met with deep criticism — especially from Kendall and Kylie — who commented on the post, “not very nice to say about your friends dad,” he quickly deleted it. Perhaps this is the growth and progress that he’s referencing in his latest Instagram. Either way, Chris has much to reflect upon lately. We hope he is able to sort everything out and continue on his path to success!

As soon as the famous couple rolled in, the “Rack City” rapper took the mic to deliver a show-stopping performance in front of Kylie and the party guests! WATCH his performance here.

It’s not really a party if surprise guests don’t come through and perform on top of the kitchen table… right?! The KUWTK star and rapper crashed PingTank’s party and as soon as they arrived, Tyga grabbed the mic and did his thing, Jeremy Greene, the CEO of the app told TMZ.

In the video captured, Tyga stands atop a kitchen table and the crowd, which reportedly included Vine stars Nash Grier and Jack & Jack, gathered around Tyga as he performed five songs, including “Rack City” and “Faded.” Kylie looked like she was kicking back and enjoying watching Tyga be the center of attention!

Chris Brown penned a thoughtful note on Instagram admitting his past faults, condemning his own actions and vowing he will be a better person.

"I always thought I knew the concept of love," Brown wrote, alongside a photo of himself waxing philosophical in a tropical locale.

"Fame and Money can get in the way of that. Most of my issues always deal with love and me being in my feelings," the 26-year-old added.

"Not to mention me being a dog sometimes. I can't speak for everyone but I can say that my actions contributed a lot to my karma."

"Being jealous and angry and controlling ... There [have] been times where I looked in the mirror and hated the person I see."

With good reason, but Brown claims he's changed.

"I talk to God a lot now," the singer wrote, lamenting, "He's given me so much and I feel like I waste his gifts becuz of my impulsive personality."

"The world is full of negativity and I feel I play a part in it becuz of the choices I've made or mistakes," Brown says, and it's not a short list.

"I tend to accept the negative or the riff raff," Breezy opines, introspectively, "Becuz I know what it's like to be a young black 'n----' in America."

We can't speak to that, but "I always see the good in people even when they don't see it," he adds. "I love others more than myself at times."

"Everything u see on the surface does not reflect what's inside. This is my white flag. I surrender to life and all its blessings!" Chris professed.

In closing, going forward, "I refuse to be petty and attention seeking. To know me is to love me. Good Bad UGLY! Sincerely, Konfuzed."

Brown's history is as complex as it is controversial. One of the brightest young stars in music, his life changed forever in February 2009.

The night before the Grammys, Chris Brown beat Rihanna to a sensless, brutal degree. Since the incident, his reputation has not recovered.

The "actions" he admits to in his Instagram missive played a big role in that; Brown has been involved in many more run-ins with the law.

Most recently, he was dumped by girlfriend Karrueche Tran after it was revealed that he had secretly fathered a little girl a year earlier.

That little girl has changed his outlook on life, though.

His new public persona as the father of Royalty has softened Chris considerably, and we only hope he backs up this new set of promises.
